Sarajevo City Hall illuminated in the colors of the United States flag

Sarajevo City Hall shone in the colors of the United States (US) flag tonight, showing that Sarajevo is sending a strong message of support and love to US citizens in the fight against coronaviruses.

"You were with us when it was hardest to remain our greatest friends, and tonight we stand with you, with the American people and the government, in a joint fight against the coronavirus pandemic", Sarajevo Mayor Abdullah Skaka said.

The United States has become the world's largest hotspot for the spread of the dangerous virus with more than half a million people affected, with more than 22,000 people dead in the US from the virus. The city of New York is hardest hit and the number of infected people is growing daily. The US government is making tremendous efforts to combat the spread of the virus.

The Sarajevo City Hall tonight is illuminated in the colors of the American flag with a message of solidarity and support in these challenging times.

"The people and authorities of the United States of America are a proven ally and friend of the people and state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the City of Sarajevo. This is a symbolic act by which we send an important message in the days when the whole world is facing unprecedented danger. I am convinced that the people of the United States will find the strength and capacity to defeat this monster. It is our responsibility and obligation to give our friends a hand of support and solidarity" - said the Mayor of Sarajevo.

He said the United States was one of the first countries to send assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in medical and protective equipment at the outbreak of the epidemic in BiH.

During the decades-long friendship and alliances of the two countries, the United States has made an immeasurable contribution to the construction and reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo, as the capital of BiH.
